Nabha turns the invisible work of informal workers into a financial identity — for 5 crore domestic workers banks have never reached, built from the work they already do.

The problem · one emergency, three doors

Kavitha needs ₹2 lakh for her husband's surgery. Every door is closed or costly.

She cooks and cleans for three homes and earns about ₹14,000 a month. She has worked steadily for years. On paper, none of it shows.

  1. Door 1

    The bank

No credit score and no income proof, so the answer is no.

    Closed before she can apply.

  2. Door 2

    Friends and family

₹5,000 to ₹10,000 each, from people who are stretched too.

    Love is not enough money.

  3. Door 3

    The moneylender

About 48% a year, three months to repay, with the family's land as security.

48% a year. The land at stake.

This is not a lending problem. It is a visibility problem. The moneylender says yes because he can see what the bank cannot: her steady work, her standing and her word. Nabha makes those things count, in her own name.

The scale

Kavitha is one of five crore.

Cooks, cleaners, caregivers, drivers and helpers keep India's households running, and the financial system still cannot see them.

Figures are estimates compiled from our research; sources and methodology will be published with the pilot. Kavitha is illustrative; her story follows a real case behind this project, with details anonymised.

The insight

The trust already exists. Nabha puts it on the record.

Kavitha has no credit score — but she has an employer who has trusted her with their home and children for four years, pays her every month, and would confirm all of it if asked.

That trust is real evidence of steady work. Nobody has ever recorded it, in her name, until now.

India already built the rails: UPI, WhatsApp in every pocket and, when a loan needs it, Aadhaar eKYC. Nabha is the missing layer on top — the one that turns everyday trust between real people into an identity the formal system can read. Employers confirm facts. They never guarantee anything.

Why Nabha

Nabha builds the worker's economic record first. Credit is an optional outcome of that record, not the reason the record exists.
THE RULE WE BUILD BY
WorkersA record you own

See what you earned, what is owed, and what you qualify for. Share it when you choose.

HouseholdsLess to keep track of

Confirm work in 30 seconds. Manage tasks, schedules and pay in one place, if you want to.

LendersEvidence with a source

Consented, confirmed records of informal income. Your credit decision stays yours.

NGOs, government, platformsA delivery layer

A way to reach workers with schemes and protection through records they already keep.

How it works

Follow Kavitha's first year with Nabha.

Keep scrolling — the phone follows the story. Everything below is built for real life: interruptions, shared phones, low data, and four languages.

Day 1 · At the doorstep

She starts in her own language, in a few minutes.

A phone number and a one-time code — no Aadhaar, no bank link, no papers. She adds the homes she works in, and each employer gets a WhatsApp link to confirm the work. Her record belongs to her, not to any employer. Scheme guidance, like help with e-SHRAM registration, is there from the first day.

Consent is asked separately for each thing, in plain words — as the DPDP law requires.

Every month · 30 seconds each side

Work and pay get recorded — and confirmed.

Kavitha marks only the days she missed and logs pay as it arrives, cash included. At month end each home gets its own summary on WhatsApp, and the employer taps Confirmed or Something's off. A month of work becomes a confirmed record — the document she never had. Employers never install anything or open an account.

Each employer sees only their own household's record. Never anyone else's.

Month 3–6 · Quietly building

Her record starts opening doors.

Months of confirmed work and pay add up. She can share a Work Passport with a new employer or a housing society, choosing what they see and for how long, with pay hidden by default. The Scheme Navigator shows government cover she may qualify for. Not a score — just her record, in her name.

The emergency · The day it matters

This time, a fair door is open.

Her husband needs surgery. Once a regulated lending partner is live, she taps Need money. She completes KYC now, because a loan needs it, sees exactly what will be shared, and consents for this lender only. The lender decides. Kavitha sees every cost before she chooses, and no land is ever asked for as security. The moneylender is no longer the only door.

Every cost in rupees, shown before she agrees. A fact sheet in her language, as RBI rules require.

Every month after · Repaying

Reminders, not threats.

The lender collects each EMI from her bank account, with a reminder three days before. Her employers are never told about the loan. If a month goes wrong, “I need help” is one tap away and shows the lender's own options. Her record keeps growing, and it goes with her to the next home.

The platform · one record, four views

Everyone gets a view that fits their part. Only Kavitha sees the whole.

One shared system serves every surface. Lending features stay switched off until a regulated partner is live.
